Another vid that sounds awesome! A cover must present some differences from the original – otherwise, what’s the point? The music here is very faithful to the recording and the vocal presentation benefits from the feminine edge. Simply Great!”

RUSH TRIBUTE PROJECT
Vapor Trail: Rush tribute band
Vapor Trail is a Rush tribute band made up of four experienced musicians who were always huge fans of the band. While each pursuing their own music careers, they found each other seeking a different route.
The lull in the live music industry during the pandemic motivated them to start something virtual. Being in separate states, they recorded their parts safe in their homes and the drummer of the band put it together and produced a video. After the instant band chemistry and the social media reaction, they knew they had something special. The passion continued and they put together 9 videos that can be seen on YouTube.

Jonathan Guenthner
Drums
Jonathan’s drumming journey began in the early 1980s. His first love was trying to capture the feel of drummers such as Neil Peart, Steve Smith, David Weckl, and Alex Van Halen. While living in California, his friend showed him the Exit Stage Left video of Neil Peart playing on Xanadu. Jonathan was an immediate fan of RUSH and had to learn how to play the drums. His first studio experience was in high school with Berklee students on summer break. He considered a full-time career with drumming, but his second passion for aviation in the end prevailed.
Jonathan is playing the following gear on the Vapor Trail tribute:
- Pearl Masterworks drums and hardware
- Sabian Cymbals
- Alesis and Dauz pad electronics
- DW Double Kick pedal.
- Audix, Shure, and Audio-Technical microphones
- Alclair In-ear monitors
Jim Winfield
Bass / Keys
Jim has been a Rush fan since he was 10 years old when he first heard Neil Peart’s “All the World’s A Stage” drum solo. Jim became instantly hooked on Rush discovering that the rest of their music was equally impressive.
First seeing Rush on the Hemispheres tour in 1979, Jim has seen Rush on every tour since then in many cities around the U.S., up to and including their final R40 tour.
The music and musicianship of Rush was an inspired Jim to learn how to play guitar, bass, and keyboards. Over the years Jim has been in several different Rush tribute bands prior to joining Vapor Trail.
When Jim is not listening to or playing Rush music he’s busy writing his own instrumental guitar and electronic music.
